PowerPhotos overview

PowerPhotos allows you to break up your Photos.app images among multiple Photos libraries, rather than having to store all of them in one giant library. You can easily switch between libraries, or just browse the photos in your libraries directly from PowerPhotos, without having to open each library in Photos.

PowerPhotos also supports searching across all your libraries at once to help track down a particular photo. If you use iCloud Photo Library to sync photos with your other devices, splitting up your library can help save on iCloud storage costs. Use a single library to hold a smaller collection that you sync with iCloud, while keeping the bulk of your photos in separate libraries so they don't take up space on iCloud. PowerPhotos can analyze your libraries for duplicate photos, showing them to you side-by-side and letting you get rid of extra copies of photos that you no longer need.

Fixed a bug where collapsing a folder in the album list wouldn’t work if the folder contained the currently selected album.
Error alerts now include the detailed reason for the error instead of only a generic message.
Fixed a bug where adding or creating a library would ignore the library group that was clicked.
Rewrote iPhoto/Aperture library handling to be much more efficient.
Fixed a bug on macOS 14/15 where showing the library search controls would cover up the top part of the album list.
Added “New Album” and “New Folder” items to the contextual menu in the album list.
Photo and video counts are now shown for iPhoto and Aperture libraries.
The “Show in Album” menu now shows a “No Albums” placeholder for photos that are not in any album.
Right clicking a photo in the grid now selects that photo before showing the contextual menu.
Fixed a bug where sometimes opening libraries in quick succession would result in the “Open” label under the wrong library.
Improved duplicate detection for video pairs where one video had its metadata modified.
Searches now update properly without needing to press the return key after typing in a new search value.
Fixed an error that would occur trying to import photos with duplicate detection enabled.
Fixed an issue where trying to start dragging a library by clicking in the empty space of the library row would change the list selection instead.
The “Add to Album” and “Show in Album” menus now build their contents in the background, so they no longer stall the app while loading albums.
Improved responsiveness of album list when Photos is slow in providing albums.
Fixed a crash that could occur when a library was closed or removed while it was still being indexed.

Crashes every time I try to open a new library. Won't access libraries on an external drive which is where the bulk of my photos are. Waste of money and time!

I haven't purchased PowerPhotos as yet because I want to know whether the app can distinguish between photos that have incorrect "date photo taken" dates. 90% of my photos are incorrect - they were altered when I updated to a new Mac. Thanks BernieNZ

Fusion between several library doesn't work on BIGSUR ! Don't buy it I tried every things with an iMac and a MacBook Pro with library on my disk and extern disk. Big scratch !

I know of no other utility capable of copying content from one Photos library to another. That is something I have to do from time to time, in order to share full-resolution edited images with other people in the family.
